My name is Mark Banasiak and my goal as a physical educator is to provide a safe and inviting classroom where all students can experience growth in their skill development. I want to equip each child with the basic skills so that when they see an activity at recess, in the neighborhood, at the park, or anywhere else that they have the confidence to say, “Hey, I can try that because I learned it in PE!”
I have had the pleasure of teaching elementary physical education for over 16 years and currently teach at Sango Elementary School in Clarksville, TN. I am the physical educator I am today through the support of my family, colleagues, administrators, PTA, and the knowledge I have gained through professional development! I have had the pleasure of attending and presenting at numerous state, regional, and national workshops/conferences. In 2011, I was humbled to be a co-recipient of the Share the Wealth Puckett-Merriman Physical Education Professional Award. I have had the privilege of having items published through TAHPERD and Great Activities. I am a graduate of Tennessee Technological University (BS ‘98), Austin Peay State University (MS ‘00), and am a National Board Certified Teacher (2013). I was honored to be selected as a Tennessee State Teacher Fellow through a collaboration of the Hope Street Group and the TN DoE (2015), the TN-AHPERD Elementary TOY (2017), and the SHAPE America Southern District Elementary TOY (2019).
